Locking the screensaver

hello, is there anyway to lock the desktop background so that people can't change it without having to make a new log on? I am running XP and i would like some kind of password protection

Not sure if you mean after screen saver has started. If so all you need to do is in Display Settings on the Screen Saver tab is tick "On Resume Display Welcome screen".

You then need to set a password for the account.

Here you go
if the key doesnt exist you have to create it yourself.

NOTE: Usual caveats apply when messing with the registry
