local disc d

can anyone explain why my new pc has allocated almost 4 gigs to local disc d,what is this for?

i would say it is for recovering you system ,they put it on another partion on your hard drive so if anything does go wrong you can always get it back the same as when you bought it.

Is the total disk size of "D" around 40 gig. It may be system restore for the drive.

Check right click my computer > properties > system restore. Highlight the "D" drive and pick settings. Is this using 4Gig? if it is, use the slider to reduce it or turn off system restore for that drive.
