Is the following what happens when you load a music cd to laptop. The cd becomes a wma file which has to be convert to an mp3 file before it can be burnt to a blank cd.To convert a software prog is needed. If this not the case or there is better way, please advise. Thanks

No most burner software wont convert it to mp3 files they create an "image" of the disk on the harddrive and it is basically the cd copied but with all the stuff you cant see in windows. This "image" is then copied to the CD and unless you plan to create another of the same CD is deleted.

just use nero if you use a laptop.there is a setting to use only one cd drive to burn disks.

Daughter has copied various cd's to laptop which now play in windows media player. She now wants to make a cd of some of the wma files. The cd burner prog wants the files as mp3 so I presume she needs a conversion prog. Are all files initially wma when you first copy then to the pc or is there a way of making them mp3 straight away?
