load a program at boot up

  Bass99 19:50 05 Sep 2006

I want to load a program at boot up, also remove programs from the right side of the taskbar, e.g. Windows Messenger.

What is the method and the file specs to StartUp please?. I can’t reconcile that which is in StartUp when I right click StartUp and go to Explorer.

Windows XP Home.

… and there I was thinking I was years past asking basic questions!

Thank you

Windows Messenger click here or click here

To add a startup program, click its icon, keep the mouse button pressed, hover over Start then All programs then Startup then the list of Startup programs and release the mouse button.

Go to Start>Run and type in msconfig >click on OK.

Open the Startup tab and add or delete programms etc listed that you wish to use or otherwise in the check boxes.

You will need to reboot to Enable the changes.

There are certain items that have to be left/may be required that have to be Enabled. More help at:
