Llocation of Windows update downloads inc KB110806

My Microsoft updates are set to automatic and subsequently when you close the PC down a dialogue box comes up stating “updates are being installed do not switch off, it will do it automatically” or words to the effect. If I manually go to the Microsoft Windows Update page I am informed that there are jut two updates required. Microsoft NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (KB1108006) and also Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP. If I click on the updates icon on the status bar it displays both of these items, both of these have the check tick against them. I do not at that time attempt to install them.
My question is where, when downloaded but not installed, are those updates located as I believe that the downloaded KB110806 is possibly corrupted as it has caused me problems in the past when trying to install and it never actually does so. When I have resolved that particular KB110806 problem than I will install IE7.

they are stored, either in Temporary Files or C:\Windows\KB{CODE}

the temporary files are deleted on completion of the install.
