Only version of linux I have found that detected my SATA setup "right out the box" was Suse 9.3(DVD version free with a mag coverdisk)None of the "run from CD" versions has yet picked them up.

mandrake 10LE on DVD shows my sata drive, but i installed to an ata drive, dont know if i had the option to use the sata drive.

knoppix live cd shows the sata drive

Fedora would not see my sata drive during install or after for that matter.

i have tried many linux live cd's and only a few of them recognise the sata drive. i seem to remember that Red Hat did not see the sata drive
