Well ive just brought a Linksys Adsl2(ADSL2MUE) and installed it via usb, But all i get when i go to connect i get a box that says "connecting via wan miniport (pppoe)" then it says error 678.I'm on AOL. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

I'm not on ADSL but I understand that if you're in the UK you need to set the router for PPPoA rather then PPPoE operation. Check your router manual and try changing your settings.

How do i do that, the modem doesnt come with a program, only a driver for usb

Look for an installation manual which is usually on the installation CD, or in Linksys's web site's support pages.

Typically you would type in the router's LAN IP address (e.g. which will get you to the router's configuration page(s).
Amongst the settings there, would be one to select PPPoA or PPPoE.

Take some time to read the rest of the configuration functions and this website click here suggested by Strawballs in another thread.

Hmm still cannot get to configuration pages, just says cant connect while not online etc, (connect or stay offline) then does nothing. Also i cant change the pppoe in the type of broadband connection in the Broadband connection properties.

I had similar problems a year ago for nearly a week, it drove me crazy.
Go to IE and type in what Danoh said,, you do not have to be connected to the web/net for this as you are just talking to the router.
As for the red light, re-set the router with the button on the back for at least 10 sec. Have you got the small manual with the router?

I presume you are typing on the computer which is wired to the router?
Have you checked out the manual for your router?
