I have the hard drive out of my dead desktop PC installed in a caddy connected to my laptop both machines running Win 7 Pro.Can I make my laptop connect to the program files in the drive as well as on the internal drive? I hope there is a simple answer but my poor old brain is scrambled at the moment - too many things happening! If it is possible it will make life a lot easier until I get a new replacement Desktop PC. Caddy drive is seen as Drive F.

Answer

No, as the installed programs are linked with the OS on that drive via the registry. You can only transfer documents, photos etc.

Like rdave13 said: to do what you want, you'd need to reinstall your programs on the external drive.
