Linking Between Microsoft Office & Excel

Hi,
I am pasting links from Project to Excel (pasting as Microsoft Excel 8.0 format not as a Project Document).

I am wondering if there is anyway in which I can delete a line item in Project and it will also delete the linked line item in Excel. So far when I delete an item in Project the Excel file is updating the particular cell with an error code. This screws up my Excel calculations.

If anybody can suggest a somewhat simple way of having my links delete I would appreciate it.

and I think that you will need some Visual Basic for Applications programming. I do not have MS Project so I am unable to test this. The following is a snippet of code that should do what you want, more or less. Obviously you would need to 'top and tail' it.

Dim ref As Object

For Each ref In ThisWorkbook.VBProject.References

If ref.IsBroken = True Then

ThisWorkbook.VBProject.References.Remove ref

End If

If you want a definitive answer I would ask at mrexcel.com
