Lexmatk Z12 -revisited

This is eeentially a repeat of an earlier thread- in the hope a fresh set of eyes- may know an answer.
A Lexmark Z12 printer stopped printing and gave instead a flashing light sequence, that is not listed in the manual or so far as I can see in Lexmarks data base.
www. fixyourownprinter.com gave no info either.
The particular model is no longer supported it appears.
The interest is purely academic- I have stripped it down to discover how minimal these things are.
So here is the light sequence - if any of you have experienced it and have discovered a remedy- fine
Other wise to the bin it goes -
A shame but there we are in this disposable society.
The flash sequence is:-
Power - repeated slow flash
Paper - flashes in groups of 3

So flash/flash flash flash etc.

Any ideas out there?
