Lenovo laptop T60 unable to load windows

Hi. Lenovo T60, Intel core duo T2400 1.8 Ghz, 2 gb Ram, 80Gb HDD. At the end of the Windows Setup, shows message 'There are no hard drives connected' (might not be exact words). There is no POST beep on startup. Chkdsk report (via UBCD4Win)seems normal. There is a HDD diagnostic test in the BIOS and that runs ok. I'd be grateful for any help. T I A. J
