LCD Flat Panels - Which one to buy?

Bearing in mind a limited budget for this purchase.

For a 19 inch moniotr, does it matter if the monitor input is analog or digital (DVI?) in terms of text clarity on-screen?

Thanks
Patrick

Basically No! If you just want a general purpose computer monitor the D-Sub connector is fine. Unless you have a digital output from a dedicated graphics card in your computer and play games or watch DVD`s on a regular basis you won`t notice any difference. Certainly not to text! IMHO.

Perversely, if there is a difference, it's more likely the advantage of DVI will show up in text than in images - still or moving.

In theory DVI is better (as it avoids converting the digital signal in the graphics card into analogue - then back again to digital in the monitor). In practice, due to good monitor design it seldom shows a discernable difference.

And as pointed out, you gain no advantage unless you system has a DVI output. Adapters make things worse rather than better.
