The download has worked fine, you have an invalid value in the registry.
Go to Start menu/run, type
Press f3 and do a search for the /exact/ folder name in the error message, `%userPrtofile96` in your case. When/if you find it, export the registry key by highlighting it and selecting File/Export. Then change the entry to %userprofile% and leave any text after it intact, so for example your edited entry would now say
%userprofile%\recent Quit regedit and try installing again. If you get the same message look for other instances of that text in the registry, backing up the keys before editing each time.
Trouble is that I got a lung infection amongst setting up this post, and the first lot of antibiotics didn't do the trick, so the Doc gave me a different one together with steroids. Now I can't think really straight, not a good state to be in when tackling the registry. (I have COPD).
