laser printer for student

  absent 21:17 01 Nov 2009

Hi all, my son has to pay 5p a page black and white at Uni. Would it be more economical to buy him a laser black and white printer. He has to print a fair amount, but I could not be exact. Any suggestions for a printer would be welcome. I realize consumables add up so would also take this into account.

I got a cheap Samsung ML1210 mono laser printer when I did my Computing HND, it paid for itself several times over and using toner refills just made it even better.
click here would appear to be the current equivalent.

a cheap Samsung.

I got one about a year ago for my sister. ML2150 (I think!). It was about £60 at the time and has been great.

Original toner cart good for approx 1000 pages... replacement compatibles good for 3000 and cost about £35.

I can't vouch for the truth of the 3000 figure as she's not got there yet!!

If he only needs to print text then draft mode will save even more. He may also be able to get copier grade paper by the ream from the uni fairly cheap.
