laser printer

Just got a HP laser 4000 series printer which only has a parallel connection.
Got a usb to parallel cable but laptop doesnt seem to connect to it even though I have installed the printer, twice.
Tried deleting the printers to start again but they are still there.

If you have a free PCI slot why not fit a PCI parallel slot card like this click here

It's a "Laptop", so that isn't an option.

Something like this might be suitable if the Laptop has a PCMCIA slot, although these slots seem to be disappearing click here

Laptop only has usb, serial slots & i think a firewire slot.

Check as there may be a blanking plate in it, a button at the side for the slot opens it. Don know of any Laptops that do not have ether PCMCIA or a PCI-E slot

Only other slot is for sd cards.

Also tried sustem restore to before I installed printers & that din't get rid of laser printer either.
