Large discrepancy between total RAM and Avaiable

  Clockworktarzan 12:51 20 Nov 2005

Can anyone advise me please. I've just bought a Toshiba laptop which I paid extra to have the RAM increased from 256MB to 512MB. The system details show that the 'total physical memory' is 512MB but underneath this it shows the
'available physical memory' is only 217.62MB. I think the graphics card is using 64Mb but I don't know how to account for the rest. Is my doubled memory working properly?

XP will use 200MB+, add the 64MB for graphics memory - it looks normal. I have similar specs, several things loaded and 209MB free.
