Hi

I am thinking of buying a netbook in the near future. Could anyone confirm whether netbooks come with Microsoft Office as standard? If not, do they include applications that are similar to/compatible with Excel & Word?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Open Office 3 which is free to download is compatable with word / excel. If any of the netbooks do come with Office it will only be a 30 or 60 day trial.

Some netbooks are advertised as MS Office Ready and include a trial version of the software. The trial versions tend to expire after 60 days or so, after which you have to pay for the software.

Netbooks being sold as standard with a fully licensed copy of MS Office are few and far between.

Open Office, as suggested by Strawballs, is definitely a good free alternative.
