Laptop wireless connection drops every 3-4 mins

I have a laptop which I use via a wireless connection to my router. Around every 3-4 mins, the connection drops for around a few seconds and then re-connects. I have proved that the problrm is with the laptop as it does the same on my friend's router. The wireless card is built into the PC (Toshiba Protege 100). Any ideas?

Check in Device Manager that the option 'Allow computer to turn off this device to save power' is not selected.

Check in Power Options/Schemes for a similar option.

...could you try using a usb adapter rather than the built in one. These internal ones can be ever so,ever so flaky!

Since posting this issue, I decided to see if there was new driver for the wireless card (Intel Pro wireless Lan 2100 3B mini PCI adaptor) - there was! I have installed it and so far the wireless connection hasn't dropped - 22minutes and counting!!!

Wireless connection has now been up for over 3 hours - fixed!
