Laptop Wireless Card Problems

Got a bit of a strange problem, which may be physical!

Got a FS laptop (not with me so can't give you a model no) The problem appears to be with the wireless card/switch. In Device Manager, the WLAN shows up perfectly, Vista reports that its working fine. When I got to push the switch to turn the adaptor on (unfortunately its a hard switch and not a keyboard switch), nothing happens. I was thinking that maybe the switch was gone, but its on a circuit board that contains the power switch, internet switch etc and they all work fine.

So 2 questions - am I missing something with the WLAN card that is maybe something simple? Or if the switch has gone, is there anyway to switch the WLAN on without the switch?

Many thanks in advance (and sorry if this is a bit jumbled, I'm tired!)

I assume you mean that the laptop doesn't detect a wireless LAN, is that it?

Could the SSID of the wireless network be set as 'hidden'

Take a look on how to configure wireless adapter in Vista here click here , follow the steps and see whether it helps.
