Laptop Will Not Factory Reboot

  SebBux 18:58 14 Mar 2009

I have tried to factory reboot my acer laptop. But i cannot get it to reboot.

I just keep getting a blue screen with the following wording.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damadge to your computer

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error scren restart your computer. if this screen appears again, follow these steps. etc etc.

I have tried to follow steps. But it's lock up. And stays on the blue screen and will not let me follow steps.

If anyone can help me that would be great.

It seems that files in windows have been damaged.
Possible solution
Shut down PC
press F8 and hold
this should get you in safe mode
from there system restore
this will restore any damaged file.
hope this is of help

Try booting up in safe mode, usually tapping F8 on booting. Some PCs use F5.
Safe mode; click here
and try a system restore first.

Thanks both for your advice.

I got it to Safe Mode.(Loading Window Files)

Then it went back to the blue screen. Is there any other options i could try?

Thanks again for your help.

As soon as laptop starts press F2 to get into setup
Use the arrow keys to select boot
set cd/dvd drive as first boot device
F10 to save and exit
put windows cd in drive and reboot
watch for message to press any key to boot from cd
ignore first option to repair windows, continue as if you are going to reinstall windows, you will then get the option to repair existing installation. This option will retain your My Documents folder etc

Hi All. I see there are a few threads on this subject but none seem very conclusive. Over the last few weeks when I click on autofill. It says not available on this page. This occurs on almost all even on this page. Has anybody any idea why it has suddenly started doing it. I use IE7.

Many thanks

Is there any other options i could try?

Thanks again for your help.

Try another factory restore.

Did you get a recovery cd with the laptop or did it prompt you to create one when you first started using it?

I have gone and bought a Window Boot Disk, Data Recovery & Repair CD off ebay. I have tried your F2 then F10 method and Nothing! the blue screen just comes back.
