Laptop Vs Desktop Memory

Is it possible to use desktop memory in a laptop?
Just that my mate who's been having problems with his laptop (other post) click here

He's found laptop memory through Crucial for £98, and i found it through Novatech for £56.

Obviously its a different brand, but is it possible to do so? (Dependant on which laptop of course - his is a Fuji Amilo D 7830)

There is a "Sponsored Link" appearing above your notebooks description Fuji Amilo offering RAM from click here for £52.88 512Mb sticks(inc VAT)

As to your question of whether Desktop RAM will fit,if your desktop uses the same number of pins (172/184 etc)then I can see no reason not to use it.(Other than the additional EEC,Buffered/unbuffered,etc cfg choices)

£56 was for 1gig not 512mb

He's now bought the Crucial for £98 (1gig) as he's a 'brand' man

Cheers again guys

I have a FS Amilo D 7830 18 mths old, which I upgraded to 1GB after approx 6 mths use. This is fitted with desktop memory, but at the time Crucial only had a lissting for notebook memory for it which I ordered & returned.

Check which type is fitted then order. HTH

Also my Amilo happily runs with dud battery (below 3%) on mains.
