Laptop trackpad

The trackpad and buttons on my 6 month old Acer 5332 laptop has for some unknown reason just stopped working. The cursor simply remains frozen in the centre of the screen. The only way I could put up this post is by connecting a normal usb mouse, but why would the trackpad simply stop working. i have tried re-booting etc.
Suggestions appreciated,

have you accidently activated the touchpad lock?

uninstall and reinstall the drivers in device manager.

How is the touchpad lock activated?
I will try to re-install drivers.

or i think it used to be fn + f7 keys

It sounds like its been accidentally been disabled. check Device Manager first to see if you disabled it, or if you have disabled it in MSCONFIG by removing a tick from the box for it
