Laptop text resolution?

  Daibus 18:58 25 Jan 2006

This is probably a silly question but what is the main effect on a laptop of a screen resolution of 1024x768 as against one of 1280x800?

I realise that the higher resolution is better but what is the main effect - on a web page page for example as certain forms of text do not seem clear with the lower spec while others are perfectly sharp. So is it therefore not sensible to buy a laptop with the lower resolution or is the effect generally quite minimal and is the rest of the notebooks spec more important?

Many thanks.

1024x768 is a resolution setting for a conventional 4:3 aspect ratio monitor. 1280x800 is a 16:9 *WIDESCREEN* resolution setting.

These settings are not interchangeable, the appropriate one depends on whether or not the laptop has a widescreen display.
