I have a broken laptop (advent 8109), it seems that its either the CPU or MOBO but i have power and green lights when i power up, but no picture, i just want to verify that the Screen is good as i can get another with a broken screen and switch, is there anyway of checking the screen i have? it has no cracks and looks ok (iv tried plugging in an external monitor so its deff the mobo or cpu) any help cheers

Try a External Monitor if there is a connection to checkout its not the laptop. You may have to press a certain key or keys to run external

There is an LCD screen testing device available from here

This one comes with multiple cables

For testing most of XGA LCD Panel
- OECT001

PCHub is located in Singapore I have dealt with them on a number of occasions now and have always had speedy delivery of very high standard products from them

lastly on the ecconomics of trying to repair a laptop with an unknown fault you can often end up spending more than you would just buying a replacement unit

Cheers HC
