Do you know the manufacturer of the trackpad? It may need special drivers loaded.

Was the wireless mouse connected during the install procedure?

It's bound to need a driver - which you will find either on a CD which came with your laptop, or from the laptop manufactureres site.

Generally best to use the notebook manufacturer's own version of the driver - as per DieSse's advice - rather than the generic version from the touchpad manufacturer.

There should be a Fn key combination to turn the mousepad off and on.

There is, and someone's posted the answer on this forum a few months back. No time to track it down now but it's here somewhere.

Failing that, go to Control Panel, Mouse, Properties. You should see 'Connected Devices'.

Again, look in Device Manager to see if the touchpad needs enabling.
