Laptop Keyboard/Pointer Problems with Vista

I have just installed vista ultimate on a fairly new acer aspire laptop and after installing the 76 updates, I have lost normal use of the keyboard and mouse pad. Is there a fix to this? The laptop works fine with a USB mouse, but the keyboard is slow to respond, if at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I may have the same problem as you, Kilty. I've got a new Aspire 8930 with Vista Home Premium and Office 2007. I notice a problem in Outlook when I'm typing emails that I seem to type too fast and occasionally a character is omitted; I also notice the 'Del' button tracks the cursor back slower than usual. I don't get this problem elsewhere (e.g. typing this message, I can type at my normal speed and all characters appear). Is it a problem with the laptop or with Outlook perhaps? Also, I don't understand your second post.

Any help gratefully accepted.
