my lap top is hanging on this screen when it boots....
any help would be great
Have you tried booting on your system disk, you might be able to do an in place system repair from the disk.
Not moving out of initial boot phase if still showing Intel Logo i.e. not getting as far as POST.
With mains and battery disconnected hold power button down for 30 secs
Then reconnect mains only and retry the boot.
Graphicool1, it was purchased 2nd hand so it didnt come with a boot disk...
Jock1e i cant get to the post screen to implement the safemode boot...
Fruitbat i tried that after reading your post and still same problem..... :(
Ok try pulling the hard drive out and see if it will boot to an error message.
ok fruit bat i have got this now
PXE-E61: Media test faliure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM
Reboot and select proper boot device
or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key
its now getting past initial boot and because there is no hard drive is looking to boot from a network connection.
Refit the hard drive and retry the boot.
and guess what, same old problem....
im beginning to wonder is it the HDD???
Yes looks like the drive has failed and is pulling down the power supply and thus halting the boot.
so we are looking at a new HDD.. awesome :D
seems relatively easy...
ok fruitbat, now we got that sorted, befor it actually died it said this on the post screen and was hanging there....
