Every time I switch on my laptop it starts up and within a few seconds the screen freezes.
Even does this in safe mode.
Anyone know what I can do
It also starts up on its own and have come home to hear an alarm going

I just wonder if a vent is blocked and the CPU overheats. Not sure it's likely as it happens so quickly (even more unlikely if the laptop is relatively new) , but may be worth removing the covers underneath and blowing everything out with compressed air.

a computer starting up on its own can indicate power problems (with a desktop it can be a symptom of issues with the psu). Also the laptop is freezing within seconds of starting up, even in safe mode, which would also indicate the possibility of hardware. Are you able to get in to bios - this would mean pressing one of the function keys as you start up if you know which would get you in to bios: could be F2, del, even esc.
