Hi Can you help me please
My Sony Viao Laptop has broken. It was running XP sp3 OK fine for over 1 month. Now when I try to boot up an alarm immediately goes off. I have tried my recovery disc but no joy. Ant ideas please.

Alarm, may be 5 years of muck inside it round the Air vent on the cooler fins. only way is at least part disassembly.

Do you get past the bios screen (black with white writing) or it it as soon as you press power button?
Remove the battery and run off the mains adapter only any difference?

Processor fan failure/blockage causing overheating cpu shutdown or faulty ram

Problem solved by removing battery. Connected to mains and keep switch on button pressed for 15 seconds. This was Advice from Sony Vaio.
