I wish to add a new application program to my laptop but have insufficent storage left. Is it feasible to store and use application programs on an external hard drive?

Most applications dont take up much space,my complete program folder is 686mb.How bigs your drive and how much space is left.Over 10% free is recomended.Better of transferring other stuff to your external hd.

When I tried to load the program (GReeting Card factory) the instllation program told me that I needed 17gB of storage!! A 500gB external drive would hold this but would it run?

17 Gb of storage for any application seems to me to be a tad high! Would you please confirm that figure.

Thanks Spark6. You've triggered a senile pensioner'a brain. Of course it's not a 17Gb application. Problem solved

You're welcome, I know the feeling!
