Laptop Cd Rom problem

Hi all, i've just got a second hand Toshiba Laptop and it seems that the PCMIA card controller has been deleted, when I plug in the CD rom and boot I get the message that new hardware has been detected, then it asks for severak files on the Win disk, but I can't insert it or run it because the CD Rom will not work because of the 'lost' drivers. the cart is before the horse as it were! Any ideas please?

List the missing files, it may be possible to download them from the net onto a floppy.

Can you make a note of the files, find them on the Win CD and copy them to floppy? Either point Windows to the floppy when it asks for the files, or copy them to the HDD and point Windows there.

If they are too big for a floppy, and you have a USB port, consider a USB solid-state memory device ( a 'keyring HDD').
