Laptop beeping at start up

  nikki2007 20:17 30 Sep 2009

I have an hp pavillion tx1000 laptop. It is making a loud beeping alarm sound at start up.
It is booting up to a certain point then just cuts out. It makes no difference whether it's operating on battery or mains.
Any help appreciated

how many beeps, are they long, short, long and short...
whatever series of BIOS beeps it is should help determine the error...

REmove and refit the RAM modules

suggests a memory module or possibly mobo error

It sounds like the Laptop BIOS alarm that its overheating, and shutting the CPU down. Blocked with muck and dust from using on soft surfaces and a year or so old. Thats my guess

I took out the ram and replaced it. Got dust out of places I could get to. Now when I start it. There are 4 bleeps, the on light flashes and have a black blank screen until I power it off.
Any ideas?
