For some time now the ability of the battery in my Dell Inspiron 3800 to hold charge has diminished and is now at the pointg were it won't even charge up. The system tray icon indicates that it is charging (and therefore I assume it is connected) but indicates zero charge even when connected to the mains for some time, any ideas appreciated.

not sure where it is with dell laptops, but you should be able to calibrate the battery, try checking for this feature in your BIOS

Sounds like a dead battery to me, had a similar problem with my FIC, new battery from Absolute fixed things click here . They don't show Dell batterys on the site, but they used to supply us with them at work, so an e-mail should sort it [email protected]
