laptop backup

I'd like to reformat my hard drive. I paid money for a special backup CD when I bought my PC but when I put the CD in and restart my computer, all I get is the following error message: Unable to determine BIOS lock, please contact your system manufacturer - which I can't do because it's Tiny and they've gone bust. Have Googled this problem but can't find a solution. Anyone? Please?

Searched google for that error message - lots of postings, apparently exclusively relating to Tiny.

Did you come across this in your search?

Looks like they might still help?

Also, has anything changed with the laptop (hardware wise) since you bought it? There seems to be some implication that the BIOS is locked to a particular hardware config.

Hmmm I'm a bit puzzled by that response. Should that be "No" or "Not"? I know it's a laptop.

What about that link I gave?

Some computers have system recovery installed, which eleminates the need for a CD
Go to start, all programmes, and see if it is listed. If it is, you can use that.
