I have just bought a laptop it is not a brand new one but it is not picking up my wireless internet connection. It works when i plug the cable from my desktop into it fine but not wirelessly it just says aquiring network address. It has an excellent signal strength.
Is there something i am missing or do i have a problem with my laptop.

monitor shown it the bottom right of the taskbar?

If you don't

Control panel > network connections > wireless network connection. make sure it is enabled and disable the local area connection ( lan ) one.

If it is showing

Right click the single monitor

and select repair

If still no go

right click monitor > network connections > right click wireless network connections and select properties. Now select the wireless network tab and make sure the " use windows to configure my network" box is ticked. Also make sure your network is shown in preferred networks. If there is any other references in preferred networks, delete them or move them down the list.
