Laptop AC voltage

The AC Adapter on my very old laptop has gone I know I can buy a replacement for this but in the meantime (as I need to get it ready too give to my daughter)

I have found that the AC Adapter from a portable DVD player fits but here is my question the input is the same 100 - 240V but the output is different from the blown Adapter it is output DC 12V - 2.7A Max where as the blown ones output is DC 19V - 3.16A

I know nothing about these things and would not want to risk it if there was an issue with fire etc would it be safe to use this until I got a replacement or not?

There's not sufficient Voltage or Amps from your 'alternative' power supply. It's not suitable. Sorry!

Should have added - by attempteing to draw excessive power through the other power supply, you run the risk of a fire should its overload protection fail.

Thanks for your quick replies that is why I asked I didn't want to take that risk cheers.
