Please do not shout at us. Turn your Caps Lock off.

Do you have ADSL filters on every phone socket in the house? Are they all working OK?

Start by disconnecting the front face of the main BT box and plugging your phone into the socket at the back. Dial a single number (to get rid of dial tone - there is a special BT 'quiet test' number, but I can't remember what it is). If (with a known good phone) there is noise apparent then it's the line. If all quiet, replace the front of the BT socket and the problem is somewhere in your extension wiring, filters or extension phones.

The Quiet Line Test number is 17070 (option two).
