LAN Problem

  AlexPB 19:11 29 Feb 2008

i have a wireless newtwork in my house powered from the router which is plugged into my phone line. I am trying to connect my laptop to the router via the Ethernet cable that is with it.

When i first plugged in the cable to the laptop and the router it connected straight away and i was online but the after about a minute it cut out and said ethernet cable unplugged (which it isnt) and i cant connect it again now.

Help required asap please

Thank you

Try a different cable?

Reset the router by unplugging it from the power for a minute.

> try device manager, check your ethernet is still connected and the device is working ok, if so you should be set to go, if after still no joy here are some pointers (if you can connect to the router but not the internet..)

> restart the device (what OS are you using?)

> repair the connection by right clicking the interface from My Networks

> run the windows command prompt then type:

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew
