keyboard problems still

can anyone help i have and advent 3111 pc with windows xp home the keyboard has a code 39 err and its i/o address is in conflict with the mouse
both are using a range of 60-64 how do you change
the i/o address any contact with the keyboard makes the pc freeze the mouse works fine any one help please cheers

You have to change these in Device Manager, but try this first. Start computer and go into BIOS go to Plug and Play and Power Managment and Disable both Save setting and reboot see what happens at boot windows should then remanage plug and play by resting hardware irq's etc. you can revert if you need to

thanks woodchip when I go to device manager the option to change settings in resources is greyed out do you have to be in safe mode to get access to i/o address to change

The alternative would be a USB if it's a PS2 keyboard or converter plug
