"keyboard is locked...."

Unplugged for ease of packing, and then replugged a keyboard and get message on boot-up "The keyboard is locked; please unlock it" and cannot complete boot-up.
Also says "press Esc to boot" - but nothing happens.
OS is Windows 95; keyboard is an Alps VK10.
All was well yesterday, before disconnecting keyboard from system. Help!!!

It isn't just a key stuck down due to it being packed is it? Try tapping all keys (a pain in the but i know)

Hold or repeatedly press the NumLock key while booting, check in the BIOS for the option to boot with Numlock on/off, change it from its current setting.

tried both of those suggestions; no joy. So I tried plugging in my own keyboard and get exactly same message even though I was using that one on my system 5 minutes ago and I know ther is nothing wrong with it.

thanks, santos - that did the trick. (your reply crossed with mine)

ßeta, it isn't exactly like that, but it is an external button that does the same thing - thank you, and SANTOS7 who both directed me to this solution.
