Keyboard keys suddenly change their meaning

A strange programme takes hold of my keyboard and changes the meaning of some of the keys.

For example, a simple "F" will not print. instead it invokes "find". a simple "D" takes me back to desktop.

What programme does this ? What am I doing to start up this unusual programme ? How can I stop it ? ( outside of pulling the plug )

This, at first look, seems to be a keyboard sticking problem. Check that the Ctrl key (one or both) are not depressed and stuck in position.

If that is OK, try another keyboard.

Keyboards have a tendency to have all sorts of things dropped into them, give it a good clean out.

Open up the keyboard and see what gunk lies beneath.

Have to agree with Pesala. These actions are what you would expect from Windows shortcuts.
