Key testing utility within XP ?

Hi, I suspect my F12 key isn't working as it doesn't respond as it should in a program ... is there a utility in XP that tells you if a key is working ... if you press it it lights up on a character map ... or something ...or if not is there a free download somewhere?

Not exactly scientific, but if you download this click here, type a few words in a blank page, pressing F12 ought to report back the number of characters in the document.

I'm using a program with F12 configured to do something which it doesn't, so I'm really looking for a more specific key detector .. thanks anyway for the suggestion.

If your F12 is working, then Skyvers method will prove it,which is what you asked.Eg:Howto test if it worked.

If you have it cfg'ed to do something else, then surely whatever that is will tell you if F12 works.

Or is it perhaps not performing the allocated task,in which case you need to tell what you wish F12 to do so we can advise on the method of setup.
