Someone has got to post the easy ones so it might as well be me.

How do i get one of my jpeg images taken on a digi camera and saved in doc's over to display.

There only seems to be bitmap images avaliable, can i convert jpeg to bitmap.

I here there are also Tifs, Gifs, and wobbly bits, i'M A BIT CONFUSED (and yes it would seem a bit PC green).....TA

Get irfanview and it will open most formats of images and save them as anything else as well as do batch conversions for you.

i dont understand what you mean by over to display, but by the time i have this typed 5 people will probably tell you to download and instal irfanview. so i will add that you can download a shell extension from the same source that will add the ablility to change an image via the right click context menu within a folder without opening an application.
click here shell.ext at bottom of the page.

Are you wanting to use as wallpaper on monitor. If so why not get Quick View Plus and you can use any picture, any format as is

for great wobbly bits download the Van Der Lee Unplugged filters (for the filter factory within irfanview) click here
