Jerky Video Playback, stuttering sound

  Vangeliska 13:17 15 May 2006

I haven't played a DVD on the computer for some time, playback was ok before. Tried a DVD today and playback is very jerky with stuttering sound, this is on all players PowerDVD, WMP, Real Player, and Nero. Any opinions?

Spyware, out of date drivers/codecs, lack of free memory or processor power (not necessarily in that order).

Pretty sure it is not the last two.

Download and install the standard K-Lite pack:

which will serve most if not all of your codec requirements.

Tried your suggestion, now sound seems OK but out of sync. - no picture in Power DVD - occasional flashes on black screen. Media Player Classic is the only player that will show picture and sound (out of sync) picture still appears jerky (as if the frame rate is incorrect) I have also got rid of 47 spyware entries with Spybot S7D.

Memory low is normaly the problem

PS if you have loaded some programs since you used it. That's what absorbs Memory, even if it's not being used. That's why a Free up memory program may help. But you could stop some programs starting at boot with MSCONFIG
