iTunes conflict with internet connection

I recently downloaded the iTunes software. Now when I first try to connect to the internet via BT Yahoo I cannot connect. The error/diagnostics message indicates that there is more than one connection trying to be established. If I shut down, start up and then connect to BT Yahoo it works first time.
I have now uninstalled iTunes and my internet connection works fine.
I would like to install iTunes. Any clues/tips on resolving the conflict - working with Vista.

I don't use iTunes, but is there an option for it to auto-connect to the internet?

If so, de-select that option

When you install iTunes ensure you do not tick the box to install Safari - the Apple browser. I suspect this was the cause, and Safari became your default browser for a time. iTunes is fine without it!

Do you have a Speedtouch BT Modem as there were issues with that an one version of iTunes.

Thanks for the helpful replies.
I did say that the connection was now working fine but I have now had a same problem with one attempted connection but with several others no problems- so it may not be iTunes - I will keep an eye on it.
Re Bremner -no I have the Voyager 210.
