Its not a valid win32 application

Has anyone come accross this, some of my programs used to work fine upto about a week ago when each time i click on it it says "its not a valid win32 application" and it wont start up. I have tried repairing windows, tried repairing registry, run antivirus and spyware, I did find some some spyware and a virus but even after all been quarantine it still wont work. I think the virus and spyware are not related to the problem. has anyone got a solution to this would be appreciated.

Can you get into System Restore?

If so, you might try restoring back to a date/time before the problem began.
