Why not?

If it runs reasonably cool, as any good laptop should, then there can be no ill effects. You'd leave your desktop on for hours on end if required...

Should be OK I reckon (my own opinion!), but consider a cooling pad click here, or similar. G

Mine is on 14 hours a day 7 days a week.

...but don't things like the screen and backlight have a set life expectancy?

If they do, then leaving it powered on all the time would shorten the life expectancy would it not?

You can leave it on 24/7 if you like.

how is the cooling pad powered?

  ade.h 21:18 08 Mar 2006

When on mains, my screen is set to flick off after 15mins. My thinking was the same as yours; finite lifespan.

how is the cooling pad powered?

You could pose the question at click here & scroll down. I guess, when answered, it would show up under "Notebook / Laptop Cooling Pad FAQ's". G

P.S. You may get better value/quality elsewhere - may be worth checking a few other sites. I've seen some that come with 2 [larger?] fans - the one in the link has 3.

Read any of the links provided by Crossbow; they are USB-powered. Will eat into the battery life a bit.
