I've noted theres a BIOS update available for my old pc (AST Advantage 7133 ie Pentium 133, 16md ram and 1.6gb hd). Is it safe to download from the AST site on my new Dell, transfer it to disk and then use that disk in my old pc which is no longer connected to the net?

Reason I ask is that a friend wants to borrow my old pc. What is a BIOS update anyway?

Mezzo, the BIOS is software held on a chip, it is what gets your computer running until Windows is loaded. If you computer is not having problems with its BIOS, then leave well alone. If a BIOS update goes wrong you will be left with an unuseable computer.
