Is it a BIOs problem, help!!!

Had my CPU upgraded to a AMD Duron 1300 and an additional 60Gb drive put in. Since then my Fast Ethernet Linksys Network 10/100TX card and Epson 1250 Scanner are giving me Code 10 and 28 errors. I have had to use an old network card to get my IE to work. My broadband downloads have dropped from 60KB/s to 11KB/s. Unfortunately the lads at the computer company claim can't find a problem, how thick??. I use Win 2000 Pro.

Have you tried removing then reinstalling the two problem bits of hardware? If they have had to update your BIOS to use the 1300 it may be that there is an IRQ conflict. I had all sorts of problems attempting to upgrade from D750 to D1300 and had to give up in the end because of system lock ups but I was advised that the change can cause the sort of problem you are describing. (They even suggested I might need to start from scratc and reinstall my system files!)
