If you connect through a Router - you should reset the Router by disconnecting its Power, wait for 10 seconds then re-connect Power to router. Wait until Router lights settle down (may take a couple of minutes) then try again.

1.PC & Router off
2.Router on - wait a while as Technotiger says
3.PC On.

If you leave the PC on it's less likely to work.

Hi Friend, my ISP is also BT with BTBB and BT Router - I have needed to re-set my router a couple of times, (also done a friends, the same) and have done so just as I explained above, I have never needed to shut-down my PC. Never any problems!

hi, not using Router, connected direct to phone socket.

You say you are connected to phone socket? do you mean that you are connected through a modem? If you are is your modem working? Check it for power and select it on your pc and switch to connect.

Has this connection been up and running successfully before now, or are you trying to connect for the first time on this system?

It has been working, but just seems to disconnect its self.
